A wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes are provided by 26 academic Departments which are organized into three Faculties: Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy; Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences. English Support to international students
An International Foundation Course (IFC), which is a one year full time programme, has been established to help international students to manage the transition from second level in a non-English-speaking country to an undergraduate course at NUI Maynooth. The course structure enables students to gain university experience while developing their language and academic skills. Students wishing to study the foundation program before entering their degree should contact the International Office for more details.
A Summer Intensive English Course (SIEC) is also available to bring prospective students up to the level of English proficiency required by NUI Maynooth for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The courses are designed for international students who have obtained a score of at least 5.0 in the IELTS examination and who wish to embark on an undergraduate programme, and prospective postgraduate students who have achieved a score of 5.5 or higher in the IELTS examination.
The university has excellent on campus accommodation with three student villages: River Apartments, Rye Hall and Village Apartments. Living off campus in shared accommodation that includes self-catering houses and apartments is also possible. Most off-campus accommodation is located within walking distance of the university campus.
International students are advised to book their on-campus accommodation as early as possible.
