给勇敢追梦的你 by 叶秀珊 Studying at Dublin City University for Msc in Journalism 我27岁,有一份稳定的工作和收入,却因为一个梦想,踏出舒适圈,辞职后出国留学。我是独中生,在台湾读大学,毕业后回国工作4年。在即将开启人生第三章,我盼着可以到西方国家进修,好几次却因为英文不好而缺乏信心,总觉得梦想遥不可及,做做梦还可以。 后来,神为我开了路,让我遇见很棒的英文老师,即便我英文差,她总能对症下药,让我在半年内通过雅思(事后我才知道去爱尔兰不需要雅思),认识了MyStudy创办人CK协助申请学校事宜,去年9月顺利被录取来到爱尔兰,就读一年的新闻硕士课程。这一切还是那么不真实。 爱尔兰是一个很美的国家,有“翡翠岛国”之称,处处都是蓝天白云青草绿地,我在首都都柏林上课,这里不是繁忙的大都市,而是一座融合现代感和复古的城市。除了冬天下起雨刮了风会颤抖,其他时候,就像是免费的冷气。 在地理位置上,爱尔兰是夹在美国和英国的中间,因此,爱尔兰人对这两个大国的大小消息可是了若指掌。而爱尔兰是欧洲国家当中,除了英国之外,第二个以英文为媒介的国家。当然,欧元和英镑相比,学费和生活费也相对的低一些。 我初来爱尔兰报到时,在街上走着走着“扑街”(跌倒),脸上“挂彩”,不论是开车还是路过的爱尔兰人,都马上停下车,停下脚步,扶起满脸是血的“外国人”,还开车把我送到附近药剂行。药剂行的人,虽是开门做生意,但他们一看到我,拿了药箱把我清理伤口,敷药,却没有收我一分钱。 这是我这半年来生活的城市,有人情味。班上同学更是很乐意的交朋友、分组写报告,反而很多时候是自己自卑,觉得英文讲不好而不敢开口。我的爱尔兰室友,更是天南地北的跟我聊,从历史、政治、宗教及民生课题等,来了半年却感觉很熟悉这个城市。 在这里度过了生日、圣诞节、跨年、华人新年,这也是每逢佳节倍思亲的时刻,但是,特别的是,什么节日都有特别的人相伴,这里的氛围感受西方的节庆,华人新年有中国侨胞举办活动,依然有舞龙舞狮,有华人餐馆,有亚洲市场可以买到Maggie牌泡面。马来西亚大使馆更是经常举办活动,一样可以吃到“辣死你妈”(Nasi Lemak)。在这里也有教会,结交了来自世界各地的好朋友。 上课很充实,课余时间我也打工(学生一星期可以打工20小时),忙着赚每小时€9.15的最低薪资,一方面减轻家人负担,另一方面累计工作经验及扩展人脉网络。爱尔兰号称是欧洲的硅谷,苹果、谷歌、脸书的欧洲总部都设在这里。因此,读IT之人是最“吃香”。 虽然人家常说外国的月亮比较圆,但月亮也有不圆的时候,爱尔兰也有她的缺点,你肯定不会相信,爱尔兰政府部门的效率竟然比马来西亚还差! 世界之大,走出去才会知道。爱尔兰,给勇敢追梦的你!   交换礼物抽到“圣诞装”,穿出街应景。 都柏林城市大学(DCU)马来西亚帮在过年过节都聚在一起。   与其他学校联谊一日游 都柏林庆祝农历新年 下课后和班上同学一起聚会。...
